Wig

From DollyWiki

Replacing a doll's wig is a beginner-level customization. Stock wigs are often poor quality, and replacing it will improve a doll's appearance. Choosing a color and style different from the stock wig may also change a doll's perceived personality.

Stock wigs

Stock wigs have a cloth cap inside.
Except for older models, stock wigs are glued in place around the edges of a cloth cap underneath the wig.

Sizing

An 8–9" wig will fit a Pullip snugly, and should not fall off easily, but it'll be difficult to get it on in the first place. A 9–10" wig will go on a Pullip easily, but it's a loose fit which will fall off just as easily, and it will also cover the eye-mech controls on the back of the head.

Namu and Taeyang wig sizes should be the same as Pullip.

For a Dal, 8–9" will fit fine, although a 7–8" can be fit on with effort (and will sit a little high on the head).

Wigs are designed for dolls with a 1/3 scale head on a 1/3 scale body, but Pullip has a 1/3 scale head on a 1/6 scale body. This means a wig which goes halfway down the back of a 1/3 scale doll will reach the ground on a Pullip, due to its body being half the height.

Securing the wig

Temporary methods for securing the wig include:

  • Double-sided tape
  • Velcro
  • Masking tape

More permanent methods include:

  • Glue

Brushing

Plastic brushes may create static. To avoid static, use a wooden-handled brush.
