Removing face up

Types of sandpaper to use

An 800 to 1200 grit sandpaper should be used to remove a Pullip's face up, as any rougher papers could scratch the doll's face too harshly and ruin the faceplate.

What not to use

Anything acetone based. Pullips will react badly, not at first but as time goes the acetone will end up eating away at the plastic. Anything that doesn't say "Plastic Safe" or isn't an acrylic based paint, different plastics react with the Pullip and can cause staining, cracking, melting and discoloration.

Adding face up

Safe products for a face up

  • Chalk or Soft Pastels
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Watercolor Paints
  • Colored Pencils or Watercolor Pencils
  • Some non oil based Makeups

Unsafe products for a face up

  • Oil based pastels, paints, makeup
  • Sculpey or any baking related clays (Pullips will melt in any kind of oven heat)
  • Permanent markers
  • Manga coloring markers

Sealing face up

Either a brush on sealant or spray on sealant can be used, but the sealant must be plastic safe. The most popular spray on sealant is the brand "Mr. Super Clear". A sealant is very important for holding the doll's new makeup in place.
